Earth Events at MIT Day of Engagement, Day of Action

When: Tuesday, April 18, sessions from 10am through 9pm

Where: MIT, Stata Center (Building 32) and adjacent spaces

On Tuesday, 4/18/2017, members of MIT and the broader local community will pause our everyday activities and devote the day to engaging with the political, economic, and social challenges facing us today. We intend this day of action to be open to all, representing the full diversity of our community. Events will include lectures, panel discussions, workshops, and hands-on activities.

On the topic of climate change and sustainability:

  • 10:00-11:30  Climate Justice and Energy Democracy (by Fossil Free MIT) – Room 56-154
  • 11:00-1:00  Living Laborama (by MIT Office of Sustainability) – Stata Center TSMC lobby (by the mirror)
  • 12:15-1:15  Putting a Price on Carbon in MA (by MIT ClimateX): a panel discussion featuring MA Rep. Jen Benson (37th Middlesex), Sam Anderson (counsel to MA Sen. Mike Barrett, 3rd Middlesex), MIT energy economist Chris Knittel, MIT graduate student Emil Dimantchev – Stata Center Room 32-155
  • 3:00-4:15  Taking Action Against Climate Change (by Fossil Free MIT) – outdoors in Stata Center Amphitheater
